I’m am SO friggin’ excited for the new Black Keys album to come out. I love their down home, dirty south rock sound. Here is their first single from it.

My favorite Beatles song ever…It’s so dreamy…

I’m bringing it back to early 2000′s with this post. Jay-Z’s MTV Unplugged albums is one of those records I could listen to over and over again. The Roots back up sir Jay-Z in this performance with so much soul and classy instrumentals. Hustlin’ never gets old (because I would know) and neither does this record. I give to you…

Moneygrabber by Fitz and the Tantrums has been playing no stop in the shop. I love the throwback feel of bands like this and Aloe Blacc. I’ve been in a soul/motown feel for the last year, basically, and these newer bands are really filling that void in the music world.

I love The Beatles and I think it’s hard cover their songs because they were just so damn good. But I’ve been listening to Fiona Apple’s version of Across the Universe somewhat obsessively over the last several weeks. I loved it when it originally came out and I love it the same now.
The slowed down tempo and her ethereal voice make me feel so dreamy and airy. Hope you enjoy it too!

Will Do by TV On The Radio

Love the beat of this song…makes me want to close my eyes and jam out in my own head.

Broken Jaw by Foster the People
Just saw them live last night and loved their performance. Their stage set up was really cool. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 5 keyboards on one stage and every single once of them used throughout the set. The band is pretty multi faceted with nearly everyone but the drummer playing multiple instruments.
This song is also my bestie’s ring tone on my phone so of course it’s pretty awesome

What’s a perfect summer without a classic mix-tape to soundtrack your memories? Whether it be sitting pool side, beach side, or inside dreaming of outside (gotta pay the bills!), Nich has paired a few of our favorite Summer 2011 Looks with a collection of feel-good songs to further accessorize your killer outfit! :
Track 1: Inner City Violence by Tim Armstrong
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcxst2_tim-armstrong-inner-city-violence_music
Voice sound a little familiar? Well if you haven’t guessed yet, Tim Armstrong from Rancid lays down this track that serves the perfect combination of reggae, ska and punk. This song is a tall glass of mellow, mixed with 2 parts bad ass. Serve with a our rainbow scoop neck tank and enjoy.
Track 2: Rich Doors- NewVillager
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO4kllpegGc
NewVillager, having its members from New York and San Francisco, is a prime example of how awesome a blend of East and West Coast really is (RIP Tupac and Biggie.) This band uses many mediums including music, drawings, animations, films, etc. to express what they title “NewVillager Mythology”. Why not add this adorable Nich ensemble to their medium list?
Track 3: Gucci Gucci- Kreayshawn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WJFjXtHcy4
If this song isn’t on repeat in your head yet, give it time. The awesomeness will take over soon enough. Make sure you check out the music video for Gucci Gucci, all I can say is watch out GaGa, Kreayshawn is in town. This crop top, paired with a bold bandeau is a perfect edgy look for summer!
Track 4: Pumped Up Kicks- Foster The People
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTZ7iX4vTQ
This song will instantly put you in a great mood, just like this bold yellow tank, and aqua headband! Along with Pumped Up Kicks, Foster The People’s entire album, titled Torches, is a nonstop dance party. Definitely the perfect background music for any pool parties or barbecues in the future.
Track 5: Get Some- Lykke Li
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TTPGAy5H_E
This Swedish singer/songwriter uses some “un-lykke-li” (corny pun intended) instrument combinations, such as mixing the classical cello with the modern synthesizer. This color block dress follows right in Lykke Li’s footsteps, combing it’s bright bold colors with a feminine silhouette and soft fabric.
Track 6: Take it Easy- Surfer Blood
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSeAwowu8GE
Taking it easy is exactly what summer should be about. Surfer Blood instantly lowers your blood pressure, and reminds you to savor the beautiful sunshine , and long summer days. Throw on this flowy dress, with small kitten print and just take it easy.
Track 7: Ellie Goulding- Lights (Bassnectar Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoVjSeb4aYA
You’ve got to end a summer play list with a bang, and Bassnectar is just what the Doctor ordered. There are so many elements going on in this song, yet it works? Never be afraid to mix and accessorize your outfits with things that don’t necessarily “match”. Always remember, there are no rules in fashion. If you feel good, then you look good!
Love,
Nich

Best Christmas song ever. It makes me really HAPPY!
This one is a close second, but it kind of makes me cry because its so good. Here it is.
Dec 23
I hate to admit that pop music is a guilty pleasure of mine but that Firework song by Katy Perry sucks me in everytime I hear it. The video is pretty weird though, but Enjoy! Or not!
Dec 22
Sleigh Bells – Yes, their name may sound festive but its not exactly about spreading warm and cozy cheer! They are an American noise pop band. What is that? Check them out here!
